14* For you, brothers, have become imitators of the churches of God that are in Judea in Christ Jesus. For you suffer the same things from your compatriots as they did from the Jews, 15* who killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets and persecuted us; they do not please God, and are opposed to everyone,g 16trying to prevent us from speaking to the Gentiles that they may be saved, thus constantly filling up the measure of their sins. But the wrath of God has finally begun to come upon them.

Who are these prophets? How has God's wrath "begun to come upon them"?

The Old Testament prophets are the ones referred to.

The coming of God's wrath is the series of revolts etc leading to the destruction of the Temple in 70 A.D.

Not primarily; his death was not even the doing of Jews.

Which prophets were the doing of Jews? In context of the text.

The prophet Isaiah is said to have been sawed in half. The prophet Jeremiah, in exile in Egypt, is said to have been stoned to death.

you obviously missed the class that stated God's wrath would be poured out during the tribulation after the rapture... i have that on good authority from the modern day prophets on youtube :fyi:  :wave

Thank you.

It seems some anti-semitism can be read in this text by some as well.

They are looking for a transformative event that brought about God's wrath and I had none to offer.

Maybe count Zechariah (John the Baptist's dad) in there as well.

Definitely the destruction of the Temple, which brought about an end to the offering of sacrifices.

Not a Jew, but an Idumean.

He came from a family of converts to Judaism. And if he were not a Jew, it seems odd that St. John the Baptist would have condemned his marriage for being contrary to Jewish law, or that Herod would have feared to put St. John to death, "knowing him to be a just and holy man: and kept him, and when he heard him, did many things: and he heard him willingly." (Mark 6:20).

Yes, but the Herodeans were clearly a party with their own interests, distinct from those of the Pharisees and Sadducees (though more aligned with the latter), and not because of religious reasons.

One that was not observed by many holy Jews.
