I just read this on a blog:
"Today, Fr. Scott Reilly, LC, Territorial Director in Atlanta, Georgia, announced to all those who work in the Territorial Direction of the Legion of Christ, that Marcial Maciel had a mistress, fathered at least one child, and lived a double life. For this reason, the Legion is renouncing him as their spiritual founder."

Can anyone confirm this or has it been reported elsewhere? I don't want to spread or believe rumors. Thanks.

But where is the primary source of information? Upon glancing at the various blogs who mention this, I don't see any links to proof of these statements by Fr. Reilly. I would expect to see a news conference or formal statement or letter from the current General Director to come out eventually.

My understanding was that he had a history involving more than just a mistress. This is from the Washington Post, but I think there are other sources of his Vatican Censure.

“We’ve learned some things about our founder’s life that are surprising and difficult to understand,” Fair told CNA on Tuesday. "We can confirm that there are aspects of his life that weren’t appropriate for a Catholic priest." Fr. Fair goes on to deny that the Legion will denounce Maciel. We'll wait and see about that one.

Al Kresta is discussing it right now. Interviewing a journalist who has spoken to the American press liason (?) for the LC's, and their public statement to him seems to confirm this, but not in such specifics.
