can we creep up into a tie with you should we get lucky enough to take the mets down again (unlikely since i'm guessing santana is going)

oops... :DOH! obviously i had no idea what i was talking about...saw a story that the #1s were pitching tonight so assumed that meant santana for the mets... we be doin' real good so far with an 8-1 lead in the top of the 7th... never underestimate the futility of our bullpen though :fyi:

I don't know how he's doing it, but he does only have 2 starts. He started the season on the disabled list due to fracturing a face bone (orbital I think) that required surgery. He did pretty poorly in his rehab starts and was scheduled to make one more at AA Altoona. Karstans went on the disabled list, though, so Burnett took his start.

His first start was against the Cardinals and he pitched 7 scoreless innings.
In his second start against Atlanta, he went 6 innings and gave up 2 earned runs.

Today is not going so well. That ERA is already up to 3.86. The Cardinals came out swinging. The first 3 batters had line drive singles and the 4th, a line drive home run. The next guy reached on an error which was followed by another single. The next two batters struck out and the 9th batter in the inning grounded out. It was rather amazing that he only threw only 22 pitches since he faced 9 batters and struck 2 of them out.

After 2 innings and 3 more runs, Burnett's ERA is up to 5.40.

Our catcher and manager have been ejected.

It's gonna be a long night.

It got worse, FS. AJ's night is done after 2 2/3 innings. He allowed 12 earned runs.

Must be something in the air tonight. Roy Halladay gave up 8 earned runs.

Beltran has 7 RBI's tonight for the cards. Uh...that's two more than King Albert has all season.

Good pickup for the Dodgers if...new ownership is smart

CBSSports.com Insider Jon Heyman reports that the Dodgers are in serious talks with outfielder Bobby Abreu, who was recently cut loose by the Angels. A major-league contract is being discussed, but other teams are also interested in the 38-year-old Abreu.

The Dodgers are concerned about Adam Kennedy's lack of production thus far and might be interested in adding another left-handed bench bat. Abreu was hitting .208/.259/.333 in 27 plate appearances at the time of his release. He could, however, provide decent on-base skills from the left side.

Take a peek at this gem...

You mean Halladay? Atlanta. Halladay didn't get a decision. Atlanta used 21 players (I thought the list looked long, so I counted :D ) and won 15-13 in 11 innings.
