Too bad this is restricted in the USA.

It is PG in Canada.

Yes, there is a problem with language - but it is understandable in context!

A truly inspiring movie, that you should not miss.

For people like me, who have some kind of impediments, (as you can see from my typing) it is very inspirational

I've seen him in several movies/programs and he's always so good in them. He is able to take on the role without appearing to be acting.

It is a very good movie, though it does play fast and loose with facts for dramatic effect, like they all do.

The bottom line is that when it comes to movies, 'historical' or 'biographical' movies generally get absolutely nothing right except the names of the characters.....and sometimes not even that much

This week, I watched the 1978 film 'The Buddy Holly Story' with Gary Busey as Buddy Holly...it was a good movie, I had no idea that Gary Busey was ever actually a GOOD actor....but I gotta tell ya, the only thing it gets right is that there actually WAS once a musician named 'Buddy Holly'....and he tragically died in a plane crash at the peak of his popularity, pretty much everything else in the movies appears to have been fabricated out of whole cloth during the production, it wasn't even a case of real events being shortened or simplified...they were simply made up

Rush for some reason completely unknown to me seems to be consistently under-rated as an actor.

He was also great in the Elizabeth movies and in Pirates of the Carib and other movies.

So what's up with that?

I would like to see it. It seems to be my kind of movie. I'm not a 'comic book hero' fan and never have been so 90% of the movies at my local theatres are not in any way interesting to me. Besides, rumbustious kids are always tripping over my oxygen hose at the movies so I am reticent to attend. :x

My wife (a comic book hero movie fan, to her surprise), is also a Churchill student and a student of Victorian related royalty. I will be going to see it with her tomorrow, her idea.

Anyone got any idea what the historical gaffes I have heard about in it might be?

This is supposed to be an 'historical' film I guess but the marketing of it is so poor that it does not even make clear AT ALL just what historical event it is supposed to recount...so let me ask the obvious questions that are not addressed by any of the advertising

Who is 'the king' in question and why is this speech of his so bloody important?

Well I believe it's Queen Elizabeth II's father and he had a speech impediment. So I'm not sure if the title refers to his manner of speaking or a specific speech (perhaps WWII) or both.

I am confused. I have seen a lot of ads for this on TV down here in California. What do you mean by "this is restricted in the USA?

I think he's referring to the movie rating.

Yup, I know I seem to be the odd man out on this board as well, but the popular movie genre of today is just not my cup, although I have seen a couple of acceptable movies of that theme such as "Hellboy".

Yup. George VI. He became king with the abdication of his brother, Edward VIII. He hated the idea as he was painfully shy and did have a rather pronounced speech impediment, not simply an odd speaking style. He stuttered terribly.

I originally thought it was Edward VIII and his abdication speech, which didn't make sense, but it was George VI. Who had a life-long speech impediment (a stammer). He had been through a number of treatments in his life, but made great progress with the speech coach featured in the movie. The speech in question was related to the British declaration of war on Germany. George was not as eloquent or effective a speaker as Churchill, obviously, but he was able to make effective kingly type speeches during the war.

A speech impediment? I assumed it meant that he gives a really important speech....maybe it's a bit of a double entendre,...

I think it's a double entendre myself.
