Hello from Michigan!

I'm a Catholic, faithful to the Holy Father and the Magesterium; I'm not perfect, but I'm a work in progress. I've been around Catholic and Christian message boards since about 1998 or so; I started out by doing apologetics on mainline Christian boards, got burned out on that, and more recently, I drifted into political discussions, which was a gigantic mistake on my part---it turned into a near occasion of sin for me and I finally cut myself off from it and left one board that I'd been on for quite a while. Now I'm a sort of a internet refugee, looking for a place where I can still share and discuss while also healing up from wounds incurred elsewhere---thus my username.
I'm an Air Force veteran (combat engineer), and after the service I went into law enforcement, where I stayed for 22 years. In the meantime I obtained a Bachelor's degree in modern history with the idea of teaching, but I got disenchanted with the political correctness and stayed in law enforcement. Had a rocky employment record, and found out why earlier this year when I was finally diagnosed with post-trautmatic stress disorder, which I didn't even realize I had (although it certainly helps explain a lot of things!). It's taken some adjustment on my part, but I seem to be dealing with it okay as long as I'm not subjected to loud, unexpected percussive noises resembling gunfire or other loud noises that I'm not ready for---also another reason for my username, :).
Anyway, I'm hoping to meet some new people and have some interesting discussions, and maybe possibly even learn a few things while I'm here.
