No, that is not true. While it is true that a little bit of controversy can help a film, too much controversy can kill it. And the Da Vinci Code is coming pretty close to the 'too much controversy' side of the spectrum.
Nah its just a bad film that's what depressed its numbers the second week.
The controversy made it what it turned out to be one of the biggest fictional books of all time and the biggest opening weeks worldwide ever.
Controversy did not hurt the Passion of the Christ did it?
Controversy alone does not kill a project there have to be other factors involved.
