Then you are being unduly sensitive, since p.falk is not even attacking Duffy personally. I'm not sure his posts in this thread can even be construed as "attacking" Duffy's views, and attacking a man's views is a far cry from attacking a man personally.
Anyway, when Duffy says things like this:
Christianity established itself in Rome some time in the AD 40s. Historians are now by and large agreed that for the best part of the century that followed there was nothing and nobody in Rome who could properly be called a pope
an attack on the Papacy, unless he severely qualifies the statement.
