Those who have known me for a while on here know that one of the my favorite crusades is a crusade to defend Rodrigo Borgia i.e. Pope Alexander VI...

I've never said he was the ideal, or that he was a saint, or that we need more Popes like him, but what I have consistently said is that he was a man who led a very scandalous life before being ordained and later being elected Pope, however he was NOT 'the most wicked Pope', he was NOT corrupt or completely amoral, and he was quite far from the caricature that is often presented, indeed he was someone who took his job as Pope seriously and who has been unjustly slandered and attacked for 500 years, largely for reasons which are base and ignoble.

Yeah, if you've been here for any length of time you've seen me vigorously defend old Pope Alexander VI several times...

Well thankfully my job just got a lot easier due to the publication of a book recently which defends him

I haven't read it yet, but I have downloaded and intend to tackle it next.....

It doesn't look as if it was ever subjected to the hands of an editor, which means it would annoy the daylights out of me trying to read it.

It may also be the ravings of a complete lunatic...but he's a Monsignor and it's only $4.99 so I'm willing to roll the dice on this one

I don't know, I have no idea what kind of book it is, I'll report on it when I'm done.....

Well...I finished it, it's not really a 'book' per se, more like an essay....and it does little more than paint in very broad strokes and refer the reader to other sources....still......it has something interesting info....he actually presents evidence that Pope Alexander never had any children and that his supposed 'illegitimate children', Caesar and Lucrezia Borgia, were actually the children of his brother whom he adopted after his brother died....if this is true it really warrants a complete reassessment of the Pope's life and place in history.
