I am a 3rd and 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, in Bowling Green, KY.
We have about 320 in our Council, and 99 in our Assembly. I had never been in a parish where there was an active Knight's of Columbus Council, so I had never joined. After i retired, and we moved from the San Diego area to Bowling Green, I didn't have many activities outside of the Church. So, the 2nd Christmas we were here, my wife gave me a Christmas gift of filling out the forms and paying the dues for a year for me to join.
Needless to say, I have NOT been bored, or had a lack of activities since then. I am an officer in the Council and in the Assembly, I call Bingo once a month, and I am in charge of the Bingo games on another night (we have Bingo every Monday). I am in the 4th Degree Color Guard (we are at 1-2 events every month, sometimes more). I work the fundraising drive for the intellectually challenged, I work on our Lenten Friday Fish Fry's, and help out with preparing Christmas Baskets, etc..
If anyone has questions about the Knight's, or is interested in joining, I would be glad to answer any questions I can (or refer you to where you CAN get the answer).
If any of you "older" gents are bored, or looking for something worthwhile, I highly recommend getting involved with the Knight's.
I also do counseling for disabled veterans, helping them get benefits, treatment, etc., but that is not through the Knight's.
