I am watching King of Kings and am trying to see if some of he events are accurate. I was surprised to know that the dance of herod's stepdaughter and the killing of John the baptist is as it was written in the bible.

I am trying to see if Lucius, the roman officer serving under both Herod and Pilate, was an actual person. Does anybody have any information on this? And the film portrays pilate's wife as having attended the gathering of the jews when Jesus spoke to the massive crowds. Do you think this is just thrown in for plot?

No, I don't think such a scene would've been "just thrown in" without awareness of the longstanding portrayal of Pilate's wife as sympathetic to Jesus, as is the case in Matthew 27:19 and in the apocryphal Gospel of Nicodemus.

Besides King of Kings, Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ shows Pilate's wife acting in sympathy with Jesus by bringing Mary some cloths to clean Jesus' blood off the ground. I'm sure there many other similar characterizations of Pilate's wife.

I wish we knew more about Pilate's wife. Unless we do, and I've just never found it or heard it. She intrigues me.

If I'm remembering right, I seem to recall that she had some sort of dream about Jesus as well.

Matthew 27:19 While Pilate was sitting in the judgment hall, his wife sent him a message: "Have nothing to do with that innocent man, because in a dream last night, I suffered much on account of him."

Also, for some reason.... when I read this: "his wife sent him a message"... somehow, I'm seeing her sending him a text message.
