I ran across the webpage of a relatively new convent, http://www.childrenofmary.net/home.html
Has anyone heard anything about them?

I have not. They are not listed at one of the religious orders serving the diocese on the diocesan website. That could be because they are still in the process of forming their community. If you or anyone is interested, I would contact the diocese to inquire about the community.

It certainly looks as if they're trying to do the right thing, but the early years of a new community are often a struggle as they try to flesh out who they are and what they're doing. So they might be good (I suspect they are) and still not last. Only time will tell.

There are tons of convents in Ohio! What's up with that?

Anyway, they look pretty good. 2 hours private prayer, looks like a perpetual fast, good amount of sleep (not that this is too important, but I always look at hours of sleep :) ). Their schedule doesn't look rushed. I like that.

Hopefully things will work out for them, if it's God's Will.

Some of those holy cards on their site look pretty good, too.

Father Maximillian Dean from the Franciscans of the Immaculate told me that he recommended this order to a younger lady who was his spiritual daughter.

This order is not well known nor are they very large, but they are totally awesome. They are totally dedicated to the Church and obey Her teachings, they have a VERY passionate love for Jesus in the Eucharist (especially the founder), and a great love for the Blessed Mother. Their life is prayer and sacrifice. You should consider them, at least visit them if you are possibly open to the contemplative life. You'll love their chapel.

But again, consider what Father said, too.

You might want to see if the, more or less, recently new addition of the Franciscans of the Immaculate, The Poor Clares of the Immaculate, are in America. If so you might want to keep as an option. They are contemplative. And even though they are relatively new, they are part of the FI family which is raised to Pontifical status; firmly recognized and rooted in the Church.

Last I heard, they are not yet in the US.

Well, there are FI sisters in the US, in New Bedford.

But the contemplative nuns of the FI, are not.
