Hi Guys!!!

Been taking a few pictures. Classes going well. I think I might actually be able to get past the educational requirements!

Left to right

Top: St. Cyril and Methodius Seminary Built in 1950 to provide education for Eastern Catholic priests

Next: Fr. John Petro, rector of the Seminary. Fr. Damon with my godfather, who is in class with me.

Next: Dinner first night. Getting acquainted. The young man is Geoff and he is a brilliant young guy! We have a great class of men! Larry and Brian in the hallway before Liturgy

Next: The Chapel. The men waiting for Liturgy to begin.

I'm pretty much over my nervousness now. It's really exciting to be here. My favorite class right now is Introduction to Spirituality with Fr. Damon.

Brother Ed

Glad you like it. It is called the Iconostasis. It separates the holy place (altar) from the nave. It symbolizes the separation of God in His essence from that which He has created. He is ever separate from us.

Throughout the Liturgy, the Gospel Book first processes out the side doors, indicating that it is the Word Who in love comes to us and not we to Him. Then the Gospel Book comes through the center doors (holy doors) for reading and the feeding of us with the written Word. Finally, the Holy Gifts which will become the Body and Blood of our Lord come through deacon's door (side door) are placed on the altar, and then consecrated into the Body and Blood of the Lord to feed us as His children. In all actions, it is God Who comes to us and not we to Him. We cooperate by going forth to receive or hear, but He is always the prime mover in our salvation.

I'm not sure what the symbolism of the peacocks is. This is the first iconostasis I have seen with them on the Holy Doors.
