Hey! I'm new to the site. My name is Summer. I joined the site in an effort to find other members of the Catholic community who may have had a spiritual journey similar to mine, and who may offer advice. I was raised Pentecostal, and around 2003 I was finally at an age to be able to look at the Bible objectively and see that this religion wasn't where God wanted me. Since then I've been a wanderer, really. I've tried attending several different types of churches and have found myself seeing the Truth in Catholicism alone. As far as Christianity is concerned, I've gone from one extreme to the other...you could say. I have come across a few "convert stories" via books and websites but would really like to interact with someone who has converted from a protestant religion to Catholicism. I am constantly reading to learn as fast as I can all the many things there are to learn about the Church, but find myself still having questions.
Thanks ya'll...

Welcome sumrtime :)

There's more than one person here who was raised Pentacostal or a branch of Penacostal and have become Catholic. The Catholicism 101 forum is a great place for questions about the Faith!

Hey, welcome!! I'm sure you'll find people here with similar journeys. We've come from all over to find our home in the bosom of Holy Mother Church. I was Church of Christ (Campbellite) for instance, for over thirty years.

Welcome to DCF "sumrtime" :D

You might want to read about Alex Jones who was a former Pentecostal minister and is now Catholic. Some of his congregation came with him. Or, maybe you have already heard of him.

It seems like everyone is a convert on this site, even one of the resident priests I think. I was lucky I was raised Catholic.

Welcome btw. :wave

:wave Hi, sumrtime! Welcome to the board. You'll find many converts to Catholicism here, although I'm not one of them.

Thank you all so much for such a warm welcome to the site! Does anyone know of any online resources, such as courses or videos, that I could possibly use to help me learn more about the Church??
Thanks in advance!

As a convert myself I'm curious how you found the truth in the Catholic Faith.

Not a Pentecostal... but in a similar situation as you (Baptist youth minister here, contemplating all that the Catholic Church has to offer). They keep me around as their pet. :D

I would offer some suggestions for resources but I'm pressed for time right now... :(

I think it is more you keep hanging with us (no complaint there), than we somehow keep you around. Hang in there!

Well... a good pet doesn't go running away. Once you feed a stray they tend to hang around!
