From the 3rd season, 26 Jan 1962. Arthur Hunnicut in "The Hunt". I've seen it told as a story of a man, his dog and his horse, too.

Hunnicut is one of my favorite character actors, and this is probably my favorite Twilight Zone episode. Even though it gets bad mouthed in THE TWILIGHT ZONE COMPANION.

got it...wow..amazing how scanning the short summaries brings back recollections of having seen that particular show

it's a good life
Quote:
The residents of a small town must pretend they are happy in order to placate a young boy (Billy Mumy) who has terrifying mental powers.
reminds me of a star trek episode also :fyi:

he's alive
Quote:
An American neo-Nazi (Dennis Hopper) is inspired by the ghost of Adolf Hitler.

and so many more

Living in Canada I knew you weren't talking about that Rainbow Bridge. Very nice!

This makes more sense to me then a definite yes or no. Question: Has God revealed to us what happens to animals after death? If not, then I think we couldn't know with any certainty.

It's up to the Magisterium to determine what has or has not been definitively revealed. I am not aware of any magisterial pronouncements on animals in Heaven, though I think it would be rash and might even cross the line into defined error to claim that animals go to Heaven in the same way people do.

There's this hunter out with his dog, and they are attacked and killed by a bear, the both of them. They were out hunting together year in and year out. The epitomy of friendship. As they were walking down the trail toward the great big heavenly gate, the gatekeeper says to the hunter, "By golly, you made it to heaven! Welcome! Come on in, your life is about to really start!" As the hunter starts walking, he whistles to his dog to come along, and the gatekeeper stops him, "Whoa! Whoa! Wait a minute! We don't allow dogs in here, you need to leave him outside!" The hunter looks at his dog, then looks beyond the gait, hesitates, and says, "Ah, never mind, I am going to go down the other trail. I am going to the other gate. I won't go to heaven if I have to leave my dog behind!" And so, off the hunter walks with his dog. When he comes up toward the other, darker gate, he sees a man waiting for him. The man asks, "Well, why didn't you pass through the other gate? They invited you through!" The hunter replies, "I ain't gonna go to heaven if I can't take my dog!" And all of a sudden the man looks brilliant, and the gait begins to glow, and the gate keeper says, "Well, my name is Peter, welcome to heaven!" The hunter remarks, "Well, I don't understand..? What's this all about?" And St. Peter says to him, "Heck, you think we want anyone in heaven that would leave his dog behind?!?"

I've seen this in an expanded version. It was also an episode on the original Twilight Zone.

I would love to see that episode!

Not until you mentioned it.

But I remember her in radio.

And if your dog goes to Heaven and you go to Hell. I think there will be a lot of strays in Heaven.

I believe that our relationships on earth are simply preparing us for our relationship with God in heaven. Of marriage Matthew tells us... “At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the Angels in Heaven.” (Matthew 22:30)

So conceivably our relationship with our doggies is just for that purpose also.

Mind you I'll not be happy if God turns out to lie on the couch all day, sleeping, scratching and drooling!
