I saw them in Springfield, Mo back in the early 80's - God GAVE Rock - n - Roll to you, baby!

I was at that same concert! Unlike the Doomster, I've seen the Doobie Brothers, Reo Speedwagon, and many other secular rock groups, but I will take Petra anytime over them. Why should the devil have all the good.

I'm sure that Petra is superior to many mediocre and second rate rock bands....

Here's my problem with so called 'Christian rock': it's 'me-too-ism'.....it's not anything unique or distinctive, it's just Christians imitating the secular culture....

There has been a serious decline in Christian culture in the modern world

'Christian music' has gone from Bach, Beethoven and Mozart to crap like Creed or 'Christian rock'.....from 'the greatest artists of the time making some of the greatest music ever' to 'me too!' is quite a decline....

'Christian literature' has gone from Shakespeare, Milton, Dante, Dostoyevesky, Tolstoy and Bunyan to 'Left Behind' and 'Fireproof'

'Christian art' has gone from Rembrandt, Carvaggio and Michaelangelo to Thomas Kincade....


By any reasonable measure, this is a sign of a civilization in rapid decline...

Doom, my Brother, the discription you give here could be translated to any form of music. Amazing Grace was a popular style at one time in bars. Petra is far more that mediocre. You don't survive for 40 years without having something with it. They are good.
